When life gives you lemons.... Our adventure to Monterey went smoothly from our departure this morning until we connected to the wrong freeway just short of Pasadena. We only went a couple miles before realizing our mistake, and turned around, only to be stopped in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Luckily, Matt suggested we take a little off-ramp that turned out to be the old Route 66. It was a long, unpleasant drive relieved only by an old, nicely preserved Wigwam roadside motel, with each room a separate indian wigwam.

Once back enroute, we did a quick tour of old Pasadena homes, then on the road again north to Bakersfield. Not much to Bakersfield, but Milt's, the diner next door to our hotel room, was a gem.
