I've been getting a lot of great ideas from Mead's first book, <i>Sentinel</i>, published in 1979. Not only is it a cool visual resource, much of his work from this era now has an added "retro future" funkiness. As the housing system pictured above demonstrates, he painted using a slick, detailed method that made the future seem fresh, clean and thrilling. Here's a gallery of other Mead images from the book.
