Has-Beens? Try Never-Wases.

Continuing today’s “found photo” theme, don’t miss this amazing gallery of publicity photos by the famed entertainment photographer James Kriegsmann (via PCL Linkdump). Jennifer Sharpe of Sharpeworld put this together and my hat’s off to her. While Kriegsmann beautifully photographed some of the most famous names in post-WWII entertainment, this gallery concentrates on unknowns from the studio’s later years. And therefore you get lots of hideously outfitted “never heard of ’em” acts like Daybreak, the group pictured here. Fantastic!

Yow.
Made me wanna shave my back, break out the Sansabelt, and warm up my ocarina!
Matt-- let's you and Christopher and me and Becky start a band--we could call ourselves "The Tear-Ducts"-- just like Lucy and Guest Star Mr. Milton Berle did in an episode of "The Lucy Show" way back when!

Wow, those are amazing! I really wish there was some info on the trio in photos #131 and #132 though, I'd love to know what their act is. I'd assume something comedic but who knows...

Yeah, I know. They look like a comedian/burlesque outfit - Stiller & Meara meet Blaze Starr.

I am officially going as Carleen Fredericks this Halloween.

Holy crap, there went my morning! What a gold mine!!

Where are they now, I'd like to know?

My eyes hurt: All that hair! All that cleavage! Half those pix look like SCTV skits.

True--
But just you all wait until OUR kids get a load of US!

(geez. I'm turning into Ward Cleaver...)

does anyone know of James Kriegsmann has any surviving relatives - I'm doing a documentary and would like to talk to them

Leslie - I believe Kriegsmann's son (nephew? brother?) is continuing the family business. I forgot the man's first name, but I have seen more recent publicity photos with the familiar Kriegsmann logo on them - only with a different first name. Hope that helps.
