Silver Hells II: The Wrath of Dion

From the CBC: a curmudgeon’s guide to the worst Christmas singles. Make sure to download the Mae West song, which is not so much bad as bizarre (Mae warbling arthritic come-ons over a Byrdsish dirge).

Is the Mae West Xmas song really worth slamming?

Aw man, I love "Fairytale of New York"!

Me too. Bad call on their part.

Sorry, but The Boss's version of "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" is my default favorite.

Much of this guy's commentary seemed forced.

I don't know... I hate a lot of Christmas songs too but's is usually more because they sound like blatant attempts to cash in, with absolutely no thought given to presenting a Christmas song as anything more than a way to guarantee airplay in the third quarter. You have to add something to the genre. It's a fine line.

At least Bruce sounds like he's having a ball along with the band, and you could never accuse him of intending that cover to be a cash cow. It's too rocking.
