More One Reel Wonders, Please
Variety reports on unpcoming changes for my beloved Turner Classic Movies in attempting to lure younger viewers. They include an IMDB-style online reference and various new programs. Luckily, TCM's not taking the dumbed-down AMC route (yet). I'm actually looking forward to a weekly feature called Underground, described as "a showcase for movies not usually shown on TCM, such as kung-fu pics, blaxploitation movies and a selection of Russ Meyer's skin flicks."

Phew - I was so worried that TCM might go the way of TNT (which started out showing good movies - really it did). But the TCMdb sounds cool - as do the Underground and Outsiders series.

Yikes! Don't scare me!
I have to say though: "This series will be an answer to people who think TCM takes itself too seriously," said Karsch. Come on, they just showed three Antonio Margheriti films, obviously they don't take themselves seriously!
If they ever take the AMC route, I'm thinking suicide pact.

Christiane, I too remember when they'd schedule, say, a night of Norma Shearer movies on TNT. I believe Ted Turner used TNT as a testing ground for TCM before it became whatever it is now (still the "we know drama" channel?).

Looking for info on the "One Reel Wonder" that was shown today on TCM-- Jan 29, 2006. Something like "This is a Living?" and it featured acrobats, ca. 1942, I think. Where does one get info on these things? Is it on the TCM website somewhere?

What are the lyrics of the theme song of TMC? It begins "Come one, come all/ We'll have a ball..." Who wrote it and who sings it?

I cannot for the life of me remember this movie. The famous scene is where the blonde wearing a bikini lifts up her sunglasses to look at the guy.Its from the 50s or 60s.
