Okay, the area where Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives meet isn't officially called Bank Junction . But the name is so appropriate, since it contains two of the coolest looking banks in America. One is Rudy Baumfled's Bank of America building (originally the City National Bank), with its breathtakingly huge exterior wall of deep blue tile. It's drama, it's style, it's elegance. I was suprised to find a human-sized scale inside. Another notable bank in the area is Washington Mutual, designed by Stewart Williams. This one was built with fountains and upside-down concrete arches in a quintessentially sixties vein. The bank's lobby once held a dramatic staircase, which unfortunately has been demolished. There's yet another visually stunning bank across Indian Canyon drive with a fantastic mural outside.

Of course, I just had to get my picture taken in front of the BoA tile wall.
