Uncomfortably Numb
At lunch today, Christopher asked why I haven't posted anything about Katrina here. The truth is, I really don't have anything interesting or new to say. The whole thing with the stranded people and their increasing despair and the looting played out, chillingly, exactly the way many suspected it would. It's like watching a car accident in slow motion. A Small Victory posted
a volunteer's story from the relief sites which is just heartbreaking to read. Of course, our president is doing too little, too late. What small excerpts I heard from his speech today smack of the same prescriptedness and non-authority as everything else that comes spilling out his mouth. Let's face it, the concerns of a few thousand poor, mostly black people still don't occupy a big space in Bushy's brain.
So I'm just going to link to The Red Cross here. Also, The Humane Society needs donations to help the hurricane's animal victims. Thanks for reading.
