Ivan the Wonderful

The Comics Journal's
interview excerpt with Ivan Brunetti makes me wonder if any cartoonists had normal, well-adjusted childhoods. Attempting to do a comic myself only makes me admire the good ones like Brunetti even more (mostly I'm trying to figure out how to make the characters look consistent from panel to panel, kids stuff). His
visual economy calls to mind the early 'Peanuts' strips. And like 'Peanuts,' he can get melancholy to a touching degree -- his
Louise Brooks mini-bio is brilliant in that respect.
