Monorail, Monorail, Monorail

Wired has an entertaining little story about a guy who built his own mini-monorail in his backyard. I can understand his obsession; monorails give you an extra-special magical feeling when you ride them. The warm fuzzies. Humor me here, folks. The San Francisco airport has a monorail going between the terminals and the car rental places - no kidding, I just wanted to stay on that thing all day.

Vegas is getting a monorail in a couple of weeks.

Newark Airport in New Jersey has a pretty cool monorail system that ferries you from terminal to terminal and out to the various parking areas. It's a pretty neat ride.

Seattle is threatening to build a citywide monorail system - even though the existing monorail running from downtown to the Space Needle caught on fire over Memorial Day weekend and has been shut down for the summer.

Sadly, I moved away from SF before they finished the BART extension to the airport. Dang! I almost want to take a trip back up just to ride it.
