Star No More

starjulie.gif Bright Lights Film Journal gives us an entertaining, longish review of the Julie Andrews' 1968 flop musical Star!, newly released on DVD. The reviewer is very harsh on Julie Andrews and her limitations as an actress - I thought she was pretty good, at least in the scenes that I could stay awake for (basically the musical sequences) in what amounted to a dismal three hour gripefest. A Look magazine spread showcased a few of Andrews' 125 costumes. Click here if for some unfathomable reason you want to buy the DVD at Amazon.
