(A revision of my Jan. 22, 2008 comment)

The Screen Gems logo is not too scary. But I never liked the creepy, ‘death’ music (1967-1974) for it. It has always frightened me; and to this day, I still dislike hearing it. What I do whenever I’m watching I Dream of Jeannie, or any old show that features the Screen Gems ‘death’ ending, I just turn off the volume, or promptly change the channel at the very end of the t.v. show's theme song - right before the Screen Gems logo floats onscreen, and the 'death' music is played.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who dislikes ‘Scream Gems’. But I’m fine with the current ones. The music is not terrifying at all.

I'm really glad to see I wasn't the only one terrified and traumatized by some of these logos as a kid. I don't remember the "Closet Killer" very much, but that freakin "Blue Mountain" was the one that made me run and hide... it always sent chills up my spine and it very truly was the source of many a nightmare for me. I'm almost 30 now and after 2 straight hours of watching it, it doesn't bother me anymore... okay, so maybe not as much.

The V of Doom never bothered me, but I can see how creepy it is... it keeps coming and coming and even after the screen goes away you know it's STILL coming, dear heavens! Makes me wonder if some of these people who signed off on these death logos had a hidden agenda to scare kids out of watching television too much...

I was under 8 at the time, and the Closet Killer music scared the crap out of me! And I thought I was the only one...little did I know that these 8 notes had a life and a nickname all their own. Gotta love the Web...

I had nightmares about the S from Hell. It was truly one of the scariest things from my childhood.

See, I really liked the "Closet Killer/Paramount" logo music. Though it was an abrupt transition from the former Desilu/initial Paramount logo music, when I heard it after "Brady Bunch" reruns, it somehow reminded me that that episode (first season) had been much older than the others.

Now, for a logo that used to unnerve me as a child and still is a little weird to me? Check out the 1971 Viacom closing logo. From a child's point of view, it's pretty chaotic and creepy! I actually think it may beat out the Screen Gems "S-from-Hell" logo. (Which was pretty scary to watch if you happened to be home alone as a child!)
